A hotel built on Sustainability

Our sustainability story…

Here at voco® St David’s we look after the planet with the same care as we look after our guests. You can relax knowing that everything from your super comfy bed to the locally sourced ingredients on our menu are designed to reduce our impact on the environment.

What you can expect from a voco™ sustainable stay

The filling of our indulgent mattress is made from 100% recycled materials! Estimated equivalent saving/reduction of 150 plastic bottles recycled per voco™ guest room, based on medium weight king duvet and four pillows per room

We’ve replaced our travel size amenities with ‘large format’ ones reducing plastic waste by 80%. As well as our amenities we’ve installed aerated showers in every guest room reducing water usage and lowers energy consumption for water heating but still giving you the ‘power shower’ experience – The perfect way to wake you up in the mornings!  If you’re happy to use your towel more than once, that would make us happy too. By hanging it up to use it again, it helps us to help the environment by saving water.

As well as replacing plastic straws with biodegradable ones, we have also swapped out plastic water bottles with large glass bottles in every room and key areas of the hotel like our Meeting rooms. Further reducing plastic waste by 3000+ bottles globally.

What we do at voco® St David’s to go the extra mile

Every year in Wales we throw away 4 million tonnes of rubbish! That’s enough to fill the Principality Stadium every 20 days. To help us meet our environmental goals and to cut down on the amount of slippers that end up in the bin we have decided to become a bare foot spa!

Air Conditioning

Air conditioning in the hotel’s public areas is controlled through our building management system which is calibrated to the weather and ambient temperature outside. This enables the air conditioning to switch on automatically when required and maximise energy efficiencies.

Electric Car Charging Ports

We have space to charge 3 electric vehicles in our car park – free of charge to our guests.

OVO Bikes

Our hotel is home to an OVO E-Bike Electric Station. Comprising a five-space rack and three electric OVO Bikes, this is the perfect way for guests to explore the delights of the Welsh capital in a fun, green way! OVO E-Bikes are £2 for 30 minutes for casual riders; or £1 for 30 minutes for members.

Our Green Key accreditation shows that our establishment is committed to reducing our environmental impact.
